The mounts on this 2.2 gallon, heavy gauge steel gas tank are stock fitment on 1986 - 2003 Harley-Davidson Sportsters. This is a more traditionally styled gas tank than found on stock 86-03 Sportsters. This is a flat-bottom tank, as opposed to modern XL gas tanks that round over at the bottom. Those years did not have rubber-mounted gas tanks, however, the mounting points are the same. If you use the later year range Sportster gas tank mounting hardware this gas tank bolts right in place without issue.

The center mount gas filler bung that accepts a thread-in Harley-Davidson style gas cap, a stock-style 22mm H-D style petcock (Left side when sitting on bike), and a vent tube that is soldered shut. To run the vent tube just melt the solder out, though if you are running a vented gas cap this vent tube is not needed.
